Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Verse of the Day:

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. – Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)

Introduction

Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, “Why am I like this?” Maybe you have compared yourself to someone else’s looks, talents, or popularity. In a world filled with filters, highlight reels, and constant comparison, it is easy to feel like you are not enough.

Truth from Scripture

Psalm 139 reminds us of something wonderful and so very powerful: God Himself made you! Every detail of who you are — your personality, your gifts, your looks, your laugh, even your quirks — was designed on purpose, just for you. The psalmist says you are fearfully and wonderfully made. That means you are not a mistake, not overlooked, not random, not happenstance. You are a masterpiece created by God.

Why This Matters for You

When you are at school or when you are online, it can feel like everyone else has it together. But the truth is: God doesn’t compare you to anyone else. He calls you valuable and loved because He made you. Instead of trying to be someone else, you can rest in the fact that God made you exactly as you are for a reason. You may not know or understand that reason right now, but God does. Be comfortable and confident in who God made you to be.

Encouragement for Today

There is much more to YOU than your grades, or your looks, or your social media following. Your worth is not rooted in those things. Your worth is rooted in the God who made you. And here is the best part, God doesn’t make mistakes! When the negative thoughts creep in, you must remind yourself: I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Challenge of the Week

Every time you see yourself in the mirror this week, give thanks to God in prayer that he has made you the way that you are. Thank God for making you on purpose, and for being fearfully and wonderfully made. Ask God to help you rely on that fact when negative thoughts enter your mind and to help you realize that your worth is in Him.

Closing Thought

You don’t have to change who you are to be valuable. You already are. The God who formed you knows you, loves you, and has a purpose for you. Live your life for Him.
