Verse of the Day:
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. — 1 Peter 5:7
The Question
Have you ever wondered, “Does God really care about me?” Maybe when life gets overwhelming, when friends let you down, or when prayers seem to go unanswered, you start to wonder if God even notices what you’re going through. You’re not alone! This question has been asked by people for thousands of years.
The Struggle
Life is messy. Sometimes it feels like nobody really understands what you’re dealing with. In those moments, the thought can creep in, “If God is so big, does He actually care about the little details of my life?”
Even in Scripture, we see people asking similar questions. The psalmist cries out, “Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (Psalm 10:1). That honesty shows us something important. God is big enough to handle our doubts and our questions.
The Truth
The Bible answers clearly. Yes, God cares deeply about you. Jesus Himself said, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:6-7).
God cares about the small things. He cares about your thoughts, your fears, and your future. He cares enough to count the hairs on your head! His care was ultimately proven when He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for you and for me. That’s not being distant. That’s not just general care. That’s personal, sacrificial love!
The Response
So what do we do when we feel like God doesn’t care? Peter gives us the answer: “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7). “Casting” means handing it over, throwing the weight onto Him instead of carrying it alone.
Here’s the challenge:
When worry or doubt shows up this week, stop and pray. Pray, “God, I give this to You because I know You care for me.” It may feel like a small thing, but it’s a step toward trusting Him.
Reflection Questions
- When was a time you felt like God didn’t care about you?
- How does knowing that Jesus died for you prove His care?
- What is one anxiety or worry that you can “cast” on Him today?
Prayer
Father, thank You for caring for me, even when I struggle. Help me to trust Your love and remember the cross as proof of it. Teach me to cast my worries on You and to rest in Your many promises. Amen.
